The Shroud for Nature

This was started at the ‘Restore Nature Now’ march in central London on 22nd June 2024.

It is a very different form of petition. Unlike a normal petition where there is one statement and lots of people sign it who agree with that statement, this is lots of statements written directly by individuals about why and about what is important to them on the subject of nature.

Nature is under greater threat than ever by human activity and unless we protect it, nature as we know and love it could potentially die – hence the shroud form. A shroud is described as a protective garment or a cloth of death.

The ‘Shroud for Nature’ is to be presented to Parliamentarians before they discuss and vote on a proposed Climate and Nature Bill. It is a sensually impactful petition and when presented laid out can suggest visually a morgue, with lots of messages from people who love nature. This along with the messages brings home the importance of such a Bill in Parliament. We may never get another chance to save nature from the traumas humankind lays upon it and makes demands of it.

This is of visual and emotional significance for our nation and a caring future.
