Today the world lies at a critical point in time. Humanity needs to seek a way forward to secure a future for human existence and for nature to be restored to its healthy state. We are part of nature, but in our advances have neglected it to the point whereby it is endangered, and in doing so have jeopardised our future to the point of extinction,
There is one very simple and beautiful solution to the climate chaos we have precipitated and that is to use a tiny, uninspiring, seemingly insignificant plant, and use it to solve not only the climate crisis, but to transform the world at present by ending mass starvation and hunger all at the same time. It will allow environmental repair, with care for each other and nature becoming the norm, rather than the exception.
Duckweeds are tiny angiosperm plants that float on water and have a very specific restrictive habitat. Allowed to grow they exhibit fast exponential growth. It is these factors that mean it can solve these multiple tasks required to pull us away from the existential precipice we have led ourselves to.
Duckweeds will regulate CO2 in the atmosphere, provide food for us and animals along with biofuel energy and reducing a lot of the water pollution we have caused. All this from one tiny little un-noticed plant!
The clock is ticking. We need to get on with the solution.
